Navigating the dating scene in New York City can feel like an extreme sport—especially now that it’s been named the worst city for singles. It’s not just the swiping or the awkward encounters that are causing issues; we’re now seeing a troubling phenomenon called “ghosting PTSD.” Yes, you read that right! Singles are not just tackling bad dates; they’re grappling with the emotional fallout of being repeatedly ditched, and it’s doing a number on their self-esteem.

This new mental health concern isn’t just a catchy phrase; it’s impacting how people approach dating. With commitment-phobia running rampant, many young New Yorkers are finding themselves feeling abandoned after a text goes unanswered. It’s like a bad rom-com where the punchline isn’t funny, and the protagonist ends up emotionally scarred instead of happily ever after. Not exactly what anyone signs up for when they download a dating app, right?

At this point, one has to wonder how many more acronyms we’ll add to our dating vocabulary. Is it just me, or does “ghosting PTSD” sound like the title of a season finale from a reality dating show? Regardless, it’s a wake-up call for those putting themselves out there. The quest for love shouldn’t lead to a therapy session, but here we are.

So, what do you think? Have you or someone you know experienced the sting of ghosting? How do we fix this dating fiasco? Let’s talk about it—drop your comments below!
